Cinema 93
(DOCUMENTARY - 33 minutes, 40 seconds)
Max Cantor

Barry Steelman has always been a dreamer, first as the owner of an independent movie theater in Concord, N.H., called Cinema 93, and then as the owner of a small video store by the same name on Pleasant St. For the past decade his dream has been to create a new theater in town. With construction underway, his dream looked to be coming true, but a breach with the board of directors caused Barry to leave the project. Now, with the opening approaching, he wonders if he’ll ever again be called the movie man.

Filmmaker Profile: MAX CANTOR

Max Cantor is a sophomore cinema student at Elon University in Elon, NC.  He started to recognize his aptitude for the visual arts about the same time he realized that his dreams of becoming a shortstop for the Red Sox probably wouldn’t pan out.  While at Elon, he has immersed himself in photography and cinema.  He has worked on documentaries in Mexico, Kentucky, and New Hampshire, among other locations.  In the summer he will be working as a film production intern in Los Angeles, and in the fall he will be in Dublin, Ireland for a semester.  He hopes to work as a film director or cinematographer, because through those outlets, he can tell stories the world should hear.
