Poet Son Poet Son explores the struggle of spoken word artist and teacher Dasan Ahanu, son of a teen mother and the product of an abusive relationship. Through his powerful performance of "Brown Bag Daddy," Ahanu forces his father to confront how and why he abandoned his child. Two years after beginning to study video and film production at the University of North Carolina, Sandra Jacobi founded her own production company, Oak Drive Video Productions, in 1999. Her special interest is in exploring stories of creative energy - the satisfaction and sustaining energy that people find in their lives, either at work or otherwise. She completed her Certificate in Documentary Studies at Duke University in 2005 and her work has been screened in Durham, Asheville, and Carrboro, North Carolina, and in Los Angeles, Seattle, Baltimore, Chicago, and Vancouver, British Columbia. Her videos have earned ITVA, Videographer, Telly, Communicator, and CINE Awards. |
