Trouble in the Water
(DRAMATIC SHORT - 16 minutes, 45 seconds)
Jim McQuaid & Roger Edwards, Jr.

Although a proud African-American, Gary vacillates between the love he should feel for his people and the alienating effect of their negative, and often embarrassing behavior and attitudes. Ironically, a chance meeting with a fellow African-American triggers a chain of reflections that promises to liberate him after all.

Filmmaker Profiles: JIM MCQUAID & ROGER EDWARDS, JR.

Jim McQuaid received a Social Science degree and a Master of Fine Arts in Photography, and taught photography, foundation art, and the history of photography at Denison University, Western Michigan University, and Umass/Boston. Since 1999, Turnip Video, McQuaid’s cooperative, has completed three short films, Another Typical Class, Dead Artist, and Touching.

Formerly educated as an electrical engineer, Roger Edwards worked for GTE Government Systems after graduation from North Carolina State University in 1988. Later, he became a technical writer for clients such as Nortel Networks, IBM, and IDG Books Worldwide. His creative appetite later led to involvement in various phases of theatre and film production—including acting, mime, assistant directing for he community theatre, and working as a PA, grip and sound recordist on film and video productions. Edwards has also written award-winning screenplays.
