Each week, North Carolina Weekend gives you another slice of Carolina recreational life. You'll hear the story behind Merlefest, Wilkesboro's annual festival dedicated to Doc and Merle Watson, and learn about Wilkes County, its host. You'll meet some of the players on the Carolina Hurricanes hockey team. You'll also find out the best spots for boating, fishing and swimming in North Carolina's rivers-in addition to some of the other eating and shopping attractions for which you may decide to stop on the way.
