Come explore what may possibly be the strangest house in all of North Carolina! With 22 rooms and no 2 ceiling heights the same, each room is a wonder to behold. Built in 1890 by artist and interior designer Jule Korner, local townsfolk in Kernersville quickly dubbed the structure “Korner’s Folly”. Rather than be offended by public opinion, Jule was tickled by it and adopted the name for the structure that he used as his business and residence.

The sound of a marching band. The smell of hot dogs and popcorn. The feel of cool, crisp fall air. Add these together and your senses tell you it’s football season again! In hundreds of North Carolina communities, the Friday night social event known as a high school football game is an institution enjoyed by all age groups. When arch-rival Ragsdale travels to Eastern Randolph High School, nearly the whole town of Ramseur turns out to cheer their Wildcats. Rick Sullivan, former high school player turned sports photographer, verifies that this revered NC past time is as popular as ever.

While it’s true that the NC Zoo showcases creatures such as lions and tigers and bears (oh my!), it is also home to hundreds of plant species. Plants at the Zoo serve many purposes: food, shelter, barriers, nests, and toys – just to name a few. Come see how the horticultural staff of the NC Zoo puts the word natural in the phrase “natural habitat zoo”.
