Schools Making the Grade

Bluford Communications Magnet School

Tanya Feagins , prinicipalBluford Communications Magnet School is an elementary school in Greensboro, NC. Bluford was one of the first schools in the Guilford County School district to implement Paideia. Today, it is a demonstration site for the National Paideia Center, and educators from across the country visit the school to see Paideia in action, serving 415 children. For the past five years, Bluford has been designated as a "School of Distinction" under North Carolina's educational accountability plan. Paideia is used at Bluford in all classes. Teachers at Bluford utilize Paideia seminars and coached projects in their classroom instruction, and several times each year, the teachers gather for a faculty seminar, which allows them to gain more insight into how Paideia can be implemented in the classroom.
