Schools Making the Grade

Southern Guilford High School

Steve HodginSouthern Guilford High School is located in southern Guilford County. It is a community high school with 60 staff members serving about 700 students. SGHS is a National Paideia School and uses the teaching method in many of its classes. Teachers at Southern have been using the Paideia program for several years. They utilize both Paideia seminars and coached projects. The coached projects range from agriculture projects where students work on greenhouses or build an outdoor classroom to English projects where students work on texts from Shakespeare and then present their interpretation to the broader community.
