Georgias Patriotic Patchwork
of Quilting Hints Home to You
Ever put together
any Wyoming prairie points? Tried a Trapunto in Texas?
Made any wacky nine patches in the Mississippi Delta?
Well, fold your fabrics and pack your patterns because
quilter extraordinaire Georgia Bonesteel is taking
her popular Lap Quilting series on the open
road to show viewers nationwide how to make real
American quilts. For the all-new 12th
season, aptly themed Americana, Georgia travels
across the country, from the Wild West to the Eastern
shores, sharing the latest American innovations in
the age-old art of quiltmaking with public television
audiences nationwide (check your local listings).
The Americana series, produced by UNC-TV, airs
in April 2003 on public television stations throughout
the country and is available from American Public
Television, www.aptonline.org.

and techniques of a well-spun craft series with the
scenic landscapes of your favorite travel show, Lap
Quilting With Georgia Bonesteel exposes this time-honored
tradition through American eyes, exploring exciting
new angles and ideas on each episode of the 13-week
series.
This year, Americana
focuses on quilting across the United States including
a patriotic patchwork of quilt shop tours, museum
exploration, convention visits and in-depth interviews
with the countrys craftiest quilt experts. Each
and every show also features in-depth instructional
segments from Georgias Quiltbuilt Studio in
Flat Rock, NC.
Abroad and at home
in her own Quiltbuilt Studio, Georgia strives to present
challenges to a growing community of expert quilters
from across the country, while inspiring beginners
with the very basic steps of quilting, from stylish
stitches to artful appliqué. Georgias contagious
enthusiasm and love of quilting attracts a dedicated
following of quilting fans from around the globe,
and, as one reviewer illustrated, is further
proof that the quilting world, once thought to be
limited to a small corner of the Appalachian mountains,
only continues to grow larger and larger.
Whether shes
experimenting with piecework, buttons or color, Bonesteel
brings quilting to life in Lap Quilting with
how-to demonstrations, machine sewing and the revolutionary
quilting trends, inspiring audiences everywhere to
reap the rewards of this creative pastime. Both
the quilt community and "wanna-be-quilters"
will learn the latest quilting and patchwork hints
on the all-new Americana series, says
Bonesteel, who is widely regarded as Americas
own queen of quilting. From shop
tours and museum visits, to innovative piecing and
quilting tips, this season welcomes some of the finest
