Ashe County Armed Forces Tribute (2008)

For the third consecutive year, the Ashe County community gathers to pay tribute to the region's military men and women—honoring both veterans and active service people. This annual event represents a stirring and heartfelt tribute to those who, through the decades, placed their personal comfort behind when duty called.

Saturday, August 23, beginning at 10:30 AM, UNC-TV partners with the Jeffersons Rotary Club to share this special event with viewers statewide in the Ashe County Armed Forces Tribute (2008).

Through satellite technology, UNC-TV captures the community in Ashe County as they speak directly with members of the armed forces who are serving throughout the world. “We will be communicating with units in Afghanistan and Iraq, and possibly other countries as well,” said Jeffersons Rotary Club spokesperson, Vicky Moody.

This 90-minute broadcast also includes North Carolina veterans sharing their own military experiences. From military speakers to helicopters andparachute teams to native artists, the Ashe County Armed Forces Tribute (2008) has something for everyone.
