It’s Back to Cool, With The Premiere of Six Kids’ Shows!
UNC-TV DEBUTS ALL-NEW CHILDREN’S PROGRAMMING FOR FALL

This fall, UNC-TV continues its commitment to children with six all-new series that help make learning fun.

The colorful young heroes of Super Why! bring interactive storybook adventures with an innovative preschool twist to help kids learn the fundamentals of reading, weekdays at 9 AM and 2:30 PM.

Travel with your little tikes to Word World, a literacy-based, animated pre-school series, weekdays at noon. Fun-loving WordFriends morph into life when letters meet for humorous “word play” adventures.

Wonderful words reach heroic heights with the adventures of mild-mannered fifth grader Becky Botsford…who, at the call of duty, transforms into caped crusader and definition dynamo WordGirl! Following the premiere—Monday, September 3, at 5 PM—WordGirl moves to her regular 2 PM Fridays timeslot where she will tirelessly work to expand 6-8-year-old vocabularies through exciting new words!

Reality competition Design Squad, Fridays at 2:30 PM, features high school contestants tackling engineering challenges for an actual client—from building a pancake machine to a summer sled—as they compete for sizeable scholarships.

Saturdays at 8 AM, popular animated series PEEP & the Big Wide World, narrated by Joan Cusack, comes to public television. Wry and distinctive visual humor, charming plotlines, and lovable characters combine with a comprehensive science program to attract and engage kids three to five years old.

Then, Saturdays at 8:30 AM, take a peep at Mama Mirabelle’s Home Movies. Against an African savanna backdrop, maternal Mama Mirabelle  (voiced by Vanessa Williams) shares wildlife movies to show preschoolers how similar and different their lives are to those in the animal kingdom.

You can also catch all of your kid’s favorites on UNC-KD, UNC-TV’s dedicated children’s channel. For more information, visit www.unckd.org.
