North Carolina's Favorite Outdoors Series Is Back in High Definition!
CELEBRATE THE GREAT OUTDOORS LIKE NEVER BEFORE WITH
AN ALL-NEW SEASON OF CAROLINA OUTDOOR JOURNAL IN HD
This fall, UNC-TV's perennial outdoor series Carolina Outdoor Journal ventures into its 12th season, traveling the length of the state, from the rugged mountain terrain to the coastal Gulf Stream, to reel in the tastiest fish, track the best game and explore the state's vast natural beauty-like never before.
The new season of Carolina Outdoor Journal premieres Saturday, September 3, at 5:30 PM and re-airs Sunday, September 4 at 11 AM. And this year public television's only series featuring North Carolina's great outdoors is produced and filmed in high definition (HD), bringing Tar Heel landscapes to viewers like you with a bigger picture, sharper image and better sound!
Joe Albea and John Moorereturn forthis season's Carolina Outdoor Journal in HD, hosting the show's entertaining outdoor segments. During each program, Farmville, NC, native Moore and Greenville, NC's Albea share their in-depth knowledge and helpful hints for hunting and fishing the Tar Heel State.
"This is the best season yet," touts Albea. "Carolina Outdoor Journal's wide screen, high definition format again brings the Carolina outdoors to the viewer with a bigger and sharper picture."
Each half-hour episode of Carolina Outdoor Journal focuses on one type of game, fish or fowl with an accompanying Gear Time segment outlining the latest and best equipment used in the field. A third segment, Simple Cooking, features highly-regarded home economist Donna Reynolds in the Journal kitchen, lending helpful hints for cooking the catch of the day.

Sept. 3 & 4
Edition 2101 - "Summer Time Heat" - on this edition, Carolina Outdoor Journal fishes in the heat of the summer for largemouth bass. On Gear Time, Journal anglers share the most effective lures and Simple Cooking's Donna Reynolds prepares a catfish recipe in the kitchen.
Sept. 10 & 11
Edition 2102 - "Grass Line Dolphin" - this week on the Journal, we venture out to the Gulf Stream in search of grass lines full of sporty dolphin. On Gear Time Journal anglers explain how they fish a grass line and Donna Reynolds prepares a stuffed pancake recipe in the kitchen.
Sept. 17 & 18
Edition 2103 - "Winter Crappie" - on this edition of the Journal, we'll fish for crappie with cooling water conditions. In Gear Time, our anglers show you what lures to present when the water conditions are less than perfect. Join Donna Reynolds in the kitchen as she prepares a catfish & shrimp recipe.
Sept. 24 & 25
Edition 2104 - "Timber Puppy Drum" - this week, the Journal fishes for puppy drum along timber littered shorelines. On Gear Time, our anglers explain the lures that are most effective and Donna Reynolds prepares a tasty quail recipe.
Oct. 1 & 2
Edition 2105 - "Fast Water Shad" - on this edition of the Journal, we'll fish for the sporty white shad during high water conditions. During Gear Time, our anglers share the variety of lures that can be used to catch shad and Donna Reynolds prepares a fish "BLT" in the Journal kitchen.
While viewers can enjoy all-new episodes featuring the state's favorite fish and game, Albea and Moore's helpful Gear Time segments, and Donna Reynolds's Simple Cooking in standard definition every Saturday at 5:30 PM and again on Sundays at 11 AM on UNC-TV, they can also catch the sharper images of Carolina Outdoor Journal in high definition on UNC-HD-UNC-TV's high definition channel.
