UNC-TV'S EDUCATION FORUM EXAMINES HEALTH ISSUES

When chronic and terminal illnesses strike North Carolinians, how do they and their families cope? Are there community support services available to them? What is the emotional impact on families? UNC-TV looks at efforts throughout the state to both protect its citizens and support those facing chronic illnesses on Education Forum, UNC-TV's quarterly program that explores current issues in adult learning. This installment of Education Forum, entitled Social & Emotional Health, airs statewide Saturday, January 17, at 10 AM.

This episode of Education Forum is part of UNC-TV's effort to help improve the health of all North Carolinians. Launched last year, UNC-TV's HealthWise initiative utilizes programming, outreach and the HealthWise website (www.unctv.org/healthwise) to reach out and provide vital health information to the state's citizens. Each week, UNC-TV takes an active role in supplying health information to more than two million viewers. Throughout 2004, UNC-TV will continue to promote healthy living.

Hosted by UNC-TV's Director of Programming and Outreach Diane Lucas, Education Forum will examine what services and processes are available for individuals and their families to cope with debilitating infirmities. Additionally, the impact of, and avenues, for dealing with severe health maladies will be discussed by Lucas and her guest experts from medical, educational and community health organizations.
