UNC-TV Celebrates Sesame Street's 35th Birthday in High Point
November 6 Share-A-Story Event Brings Together Community
PBS' Clifford the Big Red DogT is just one of the sights that families will see at the High Point Share a Story Community Event celebrating Sesame Street's 35th birthday.
High Point mayor Rebecca Smothers will kick off the celebration with the opening address. Besides appearances by Clifford the Big Red DogT, audiences will see demonstrations from the High Point Police Department Canine Unit, attend a scholastic book fair, participate in a Sesame Street workshop, create books, make puppets, hear stories, have fun in the Space Walk of the Triad, or enjoy free food.
UNC-TV's Pamela Hines and Angela Wilson-Newsome will lead Share-A-Story activities with families to promote literacy. PBS KIDS Share a Story is a national literacy campaign designed to inspire adults to help millions of children develop language and literacy skills through daily activities, including book reading, drawing, storytelling, rhyming and singing.
The High Point Share-A-Story community event was sponsored by the Ark of Safety Preschool, UNC-TV, Five Points Community Pride Association, Divine Covenant Enrichment Center and Glosso Speech and Language Service.
