The League of Women Voters of North Carolina and UNC-TV Partner to  Produce a Forum
LIVE 2008 NC Lieutenant Gubernatorial Candidates Forum
,
Thursday, April 10, at 8 PM, on UNC-NC, UNC-TV’s Digital North Carolina Channel

As the May 6 Primary draws near, UNC-TV and the League of Women Voters of North Carolina team up to present the 2008 NC Lieutenant Gubernatorial Candidates Forum Thursday, April 10, at 8 PM on UNC-NC, UNC-TV’s digital channel dedicated to North Carolina programming. The forum will air on UNC-TV at 10 PM.

In this topical 2008 candidates forum, UNC-TV executive producer for content Shannon Vickery moderates an in-depth discussion of top state issues among Democratic Party candidates Walter Dalton, Hampton Dellinger, Patrick Smathers and Dan Besse and Republican Party candidates Greg Dority and James Snyder. Invitations have also been sent to Republican Party candidates Timothy Cook and Robert Pittengerr.

During the April 10 candidates forum, Vickery will pose questions in each of two back-to-back segments between participating candidates from each political party.

Bob Royster, senior director of production at UNC-TV said, "We are excited to partner with the League of Women Voters of North Carolina in this forum.  With the statewide reach of UNC-TV, this forum will provide important information to our viewers about the candidates for Lieutenant Governor.  The program will also give the Lieutenant Gubernatorial Candidates an opportunity to present their views on the challenges and opportunities facing our state in the future, and how best to address them."

Judie Burke, President of LWVNC, agrees. “The League has a long and respected tradition of presenting candidate forums, and this partnership allows widespread distribution of the discussion of issues that are important to North Carolina voters.   Beyond the TV audience, UNC-TV is making this and the gubernatorial forums available on the web so the electorate can listen at any time before the primary to the candidates’ points of view.  This is a great public service.”
