UNC-TV Presents…ELECTION 2006
Just in time for the November elections, tune in and learn more about North Carolina politics and candidates with special UNC-TV public affairs programming, designed to educate, enrich and inform.
Thursday, October 26, beginning at 8 PM, UNC-TV and the North Carolina Center for Voter Education present the Judge for Yourself: Election 2006 specials looking at both the NC Supreme Court Chief Justice Candidates and NC Court of Appeals Candidates. In each half-hour episode, Chris Heagarty, the Executive Director of the North Carolina Center for Voter Education joins UNC-TV's own Shannon Vickery for the unique opportunity to hear from all of the local candidates in each of these important races for eight-term judicial seats.
Sunday, October 29, at 3 PM, join more political challengers from across the state to express their platforms and reach out to their constituencies in a series of two-minute segments on Election 2006 Candidates Speak.
As Election Day draws nearer, tune in Thursday, November 2, at 8 PM, for a Judge for Yourself: Election 2006 look at the NC Supreme Court Associate Justice Candidates. In this hour-long UNC-TV special, Chris Heagarty and Shannon Vickery return to present all six candidates in races for three Associate Justice positions on the North Carolina Supreme Court.
And weeknights at 7:30 PM leading up to Election Day, don't miss North Carolina Now's local look at all of the state races affecting viewers like you. Included in this coverage, Tuesday, October 24, UNC-TV's flagship public affairs program spotlights the competitive 8th District Congressional race between incumbent Republican Robin Hayes (R) and Democratic candidate Larry Kissell. The following evening, Wednesday, October 25, NC Now highlights the contentious 13th District race between Democratic U.S. Rep. Brad Miller and Republican challenger Vernon Robinson.
