Begin your travels with an air of adventure, romance and excitement when UNC-TV presents the FESTIVAL favorite Great Scenic Railway Journeys: Celebrating 175 Years of the American Railroad, Sunday, February 25, at 10 AM. North Carolina’s own program producer and director Rob Van Camp appears—LIVE—in the UNC-TV studio to host visits to 22 of the nation’s most popular railway landmarks. Discover all the history these beloved trains have left behind in this commemoration of the 175th anniversary of the American railroad.

Continue your travels by climbing aboard, Saturday, March 3, at 4PM, for the premiere of back-to-back Cruising Carolina episodes exploring the hidden gems of North Carolina’s Inner Banks. Beginning at 4 PM, Northern Albermarle takes you through the region from the Dismal Swamp Canal through Elizabeth City, Hertford and Edenton. At 5:30 PM, The Cape Fear visits the quaint communities and still waters from Wrightsville Beach and Wilmington through Southport, the Brunswick Islands and Calabash. These all-new mini documentaries offer an intimate look at the incredible natural beauty and historic communities that anchor the region. Cruising Carolina uses the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway, the Albemarle Sound and the rivers that feed it for a fascinating boating “road” trip to some of the wildest places and most welcoming Tar Heel coastal communities.
