UNC-TV BRINGS HOT SHOWS & BRIGHT STARS HOME TO YOU
DURING FESTIVAL 2008—Saturday, Feb. 16—Wednesday, March 19

In addition to featuring some of the best and brightest programming on television, UNC-TV’s FESTIVAL 2008 also means many exciting in-studio guests! From FESTIVAL’s folksy favorite David Holt to the sweet sounds of musical sensation Daniel O’Donnell, tune in for popular entertainers as they host their FESTIVAL 2008 specials—LIVE—in the UNC-TV studio!

This year’s talent-full FESTIVAL begins with travels full of Inner Banks environs and energy when Claiborne Young returns to UNC-TV—LIVE—in the studio, Saturday, February 16, for back-to-back specials of his popular Cruising Carolina series. The Cruising Carolina host joins series producer Theresa Dalton at 4 PM for a new look at special spots along our eastern shores in The Lower Banks, followed by the seaside sights of the Northern Albermarle at 5:30. The Carolina pair returns Sunday, March 9, at 6 PM, for a special FESTIVAL encore look at The Lower Banks.

Continue your journeys with an air of adventure and ageless romance when UNC-TV presents the premiere of Great Scenic Railway Journeys: Celebrating North America’s Steam Railways, Tuesday, February 18, at 8 PM. Grammy-winning musician and storyteller David Holt joins program producer and director Rob VanCamp—LIVE—in the UNC-TV studio to host this exciting new look at those who preserve the nation’s last steam railroads. At 10 PM, climb aboard for the FESTIVAL favorite Blue Ridge Parkway: America’s Grand Balcony as VanCamp and Holt take travelers down the Parkway’s full length to share all the unadulterated beauty and interesting stories behind its many attractions.

Sunday, February 24, at 3:30 PM, enjoy Carolina crafts with one of the finest hands-on artists in the Tar Heel State. Join Ben Owen III—LIVE—from his Seagrove studio for the latest installment of Pottery Live! With Ben Owen III. This renowned artisan joins UNC-TV’s own Shannon Vickery as he creates beautiful works of art from the comfort of his own home and shares the history of the generations-old craft of pottery making in this time-honored Tar Heel setting.

Don’t miss terrific tunemaker Tim Janis—LIVE in the UNC-TV Studio, Monday, February 25, at 8 PM, for the FESTIVAL premiere of Tim Janis: An Enchanted Evening! The popular composer presents a spectacular evening of magical music set against a stunning star-filled night. In addition to his 18-piece ensemble, highlights include performances by Ireland’s Fionnuala Gill, Grammy Award winner Lusa Fischer and ballroom couple Katarzyna and Alex.

Get in the groove with The Kingston Trio’s own George Grove—LIVE—in the UNC-TV studio Tuesday, February 26, at 8 PM, for a special FESTIVAL presentation of The Kingston Trio: Wherever They May Go. Grove hosts this special celebrating the Trio’s timeless music and fascinating story through interviews, vintage footage and full music clips of their hits, including "Tom Dooley," "Greenback Dollar," "Where Have All the Flowers Gone" and "M.T.A."

Irish singing sensation Daniel O’Donnell returns to the UNC-TV studio Saturday, March 1, at 7 PM, to share the beautiful songs and sites of his native land in the all-new concert special, Daniel O’Donnell at home in Ireland.

Enjoy of an afternoon full of waist management and wonder makeovers, Sunday, March 16, beginning at 3:30 PM, with Dr. Michael Roizen—LIVE—in the UNC-TV studio for the FESTIVAL premiere of his all-new special You: Steps for Extending Your Warranty With Dr. Michael Roizen. The trusted doctor and best-selling author shares his easy action plan to combat life’s external and internal forces that cause wear and tear on the bodies of viewers like you!
