Cruise the Inner Banks During UNC-TV's FESTIVAL 2006
With Cruising Carolina, Sunday, February 26, at 9 AM
North Carolinians who miss the echo of the Inner Banks' rivers and estuaries can travel over them vicariously this Sunday.
On Sunday, February 26, at 9 AM, UNC-TV presents Cruising Carolina, a new FESTIVAL 2006 special that explores the Inner Banks-including Edenton, Manteo, Hatteras, Hertford, Ocracoke, New Bern, Bath, Beaufort, Southport and Wilmington-traveling to some of the region's best kept secrets. Cruising Carolina pays homage to the people, history and towns of the Inner Banks, as well as the waters that nurture them.
Based on the newest edition of Cruising Guide to Coastal North Carolina by Claiborne Young, the special brings to television the best of the guide, published in June 2005. UNC-TV viewers will cruise the waters of eastern North Carolina with Young and experience fascinating stops along the way.
The special is an intriguing blend of useful nautical information and hundreds of tales about historical villages, extraordinary people, and uncommon beauty that distinguish the watery edges of North Carolina. As host and narrator, Claiborne Young's enthusiasm will provide an enlightening and exciting tour of the Carolina coast.
Part one of Cruising Carolina focuses on the Northern Albemarle region, including the Great Dismal Swamp Canal, Elizabeth City, Hertford and Edenton. Part two focuses on the Pungo and Pamlico River region, including Belhaven; Bath and Washington.
Climb aboard on Sunday, February 26, at 9 PM for Cruising Carolina, only on UNC-TV.
