UNC-TV’S OUR STATE WINS EMMY® AWARD
The Nashville/Midsouth Chapter of The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) presented the 22nd Annual Midsouth Emmy® Awards at Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center on Saturday, January 26. UNC-TV’s Our State and its production staff, Jim Bramlett, producer; Michael Burke, director of photography; Daniel Cook, editor; Brian Faulkner, writer/narrator; Morgan Potts, editor; and Lisa Waldo, associate producer, earned the award for best Magazine Series. Cook accepted the Emmy at the Nashville ceremonies on behalf of the UNC-TV team.
"It's always nice to have one's work recognized and appreciated," notes series originator Bramlett, "and while nominated in previous years, it's very exciting to win this year. I can't imagine a finer team of folks to work with; each person contributes unique talents to make the Our State television series something of which we are all proud."
"A person not named in the nomination but whose work proves integral to the Our State project is musician/composer Fred Story, of Concentrix Music Design in Charlotte," adds Bramlett. "Fred also won the Music Composer/Arranger Emmy Saturday night for the musical score to UNC-TV's original production Monet in Normandy, so we were very pleased to see Fred's work recognized as well."
Chapter President Ellen Jones Pryor, of the Frist Center for the Visual Arts, welcomed a record crowd of 535 to the cocktail reception and gala banquet. The Midsouth Chapter encompasses the North Carolina and Tennessee, as well as northern Alabama.
