Georgann Eubanks Shares Literary Trails of the North Carolina Mountains
On UNC-TV’s North Carolina Bookwatch, Friday, October 12, at 9:30 PM

In her guidebook, Literary Trails of the North Carolina Mountains, the first of three regional volumes, Carrboro, NC's own Georgann Eubanks invites residents and out-of-state visitors to explore North Carolina while reading literature from our state's finest writers.

Organized geographically through a series of eighteen half-day and day-long tours in the western part of the state, Eubanks directs curious travelers to the historic sites where Tar Heel authors have lived and worked. Along the way, travelers can read outstanding excerpts from the writers, evoking the places, customs, colloquialisms, and characters that figure prominently in their poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, and plays.

In an all-new episode of UNC-TV’s local literary series North Carolina Bookwatch with D.G. Martin, premiering Friday, October 12, at 9:30 PM, the local author shares many of the literary lessons learned along the way.

A writer, teacher and consultant to nonprofit groups across the country, Eubanks has directed the Duke University Writers’ Workshop since 1989, was a founder of the North Carolina Writers’ Network, and is past chair of the North Carolina Humanities Council. She is also a principal in the Emmy-winning documentary production firm Minnow Media.

Don’t miss DG Martin’s all-new interview with Georgann Eubanks on North Carolina Bookwatch, Friday, October 12, at 9:30 PM, with an encore episode airing Sunday, October 14, at 5 PM.

During the 20-week, 10th anniversary season of North Carolina Bookwatch, guests also include: J. Peder Zane (The Top Ten), Gov. Michael Easley (Look Out, College, Here I Come!), Michele Bowen (Holy Ghost Corner), Neal Thompson (Driving With the Devil), Joseph Bathanti (Coventry), Joanna Catherine Scott (The Road From Chapel Hill), James Dodson (Beautiful Madness), Dan Heath (Made To Stick), Margaret Maron (Hard Row), James Peacock (Grounded Globalism: How the U.S. South Embraces the World), Tim Madigan (I’m Proud of You), Melton McLaurin (The Marines of Montford Point), Kathryn Stripling Byer (Coming to Rest),  David Guy (Jake Fades), Zelda Lockhart (Cold Running Creek), Mike Lassiter (Our Vanishing Americana: A North Carolina Portrait), Joe and Terry Graedon (Best Choices from the People’s Pharmacy), Fred Hobson (Off the Rim), and William Powell (Encyclopedia of North Carolina).
