The Donna Dewberry fundraising specials,
produced by Cutters Productions and UNC-TV, won the
Most Successful Pledge Program award at the first
annual American Public Television (APT) Programming
Awards. The pledge specials, Donna Dewberry’s
Painting Extravaganza and One Stroke Painting
With Donna Dewberry, garnered the award for generating
the most contributor support across the public television
system. The fundraising programs have aired more
than 4,502 times on 355 stations.
The one-hour pledge specials are
based on the popular One Stroke Painting With Donna
Dewberry series seen on public television.
Each week, host Donna Dewberry demonstrates her ”One-Stroke
Painting” technique and teaches viewers how to
turn plain surfaces and everyday objects into professional-looking,
one-of-a-kind decorative artworks.
The APT Programming Awards, presented
November 13 at APT’s annual Fall Marketplace meeting
in Palm Springs, California, were designed to identify
programs and producers whose ingenuity, professionalism
and dedication has made a difference in public television.
In all, nine awards were handed out. For 41 years,
APT has been a prime source of programming for the nation's
public television stations. APT is known for identifying
innovative programs and developing creative distribution
techniques for producers.
For more than five years, UNC-TV
and Cutters Productions have been committed to creating
programming that educates, enlightens and entertains.
In addition to the Donna Dewberry series and pledge
specials, UNC-TV and Cutters Productions also produce
the public television series For Your Home, Glass
With Vicki Payne, Paint! Paint! Paint! and the pledge
specials Kid Concoctions and Memories &
