Inspired by the pages of Our State magazine, UNC-TV's half-hour on-air monthly magazine, Our State, takes you down-home in North Carolina for an in-depth look at the people and places that make our state great! Compelling stories, stunning digital videography and thoughtful narration take you beneath the surface, providing answers to the hows and whys of all things Our State.
November's edition of Our State, premiering Wednesday, November 2, at 8 PM, visits with internationally known jazz artist Nnenna Freelon of Durham. This five-time Grammy Aware nominee discusses her career and her latest project-Blueprint of a Lady: Sketches of Billie Holiday. Then explore Rutherford County's Washburn Hardware, an old-fashioned hardware store that stocks many of the indispensable items of your grandparents' era. And Our State takes you on a visit to North Carolina's only cheese factory, Ashe County Cheese, tucked away in our state's northwest corner. If you can't catch the show on Wednesday night, catch an encore broadcast Thursday, November 3, at 9:30 PM!
