PBS SERIES TO APPRAISE MORE THAN 60,000 TREASURES IN SIX CITIES
BOSTON, MA, January 5, 2009—ANTIQUES ROADSHOW, public television’s most-watched primetime series, has announced its summer 2009 Tour destinations, including a June 27, 2009 stop in Raleigh, North Carolina at the city’s new convention center. Other tour stops are in Atlantic City, New Jersey; Madison, Wisconsin; Denver, Colorado; Phoenix, Arizona; and San Jose, California. ANTIQUES ROADSHOW can be seen weekly on Mondays at 8:00 p.m. on UNC-TV, North Carolina's statewide public television network.
Programs taped in those locations will make up ROADSHOW’s fourteenth broadcast season on PBS, airing in 2010.
ANTIQUES ROADSHOW’s 2009 Tour features a series of local events at which top appraisers offer the public free evaluations of antiques and collectibles—revealing the often surprising history and value of these items.
Admission to ANTIQUES ROADSHOW events is free, but tickets are required and must be obtained in advance. Complete ticketing rules will be available beginning Monday, January 5, 2009 on ANTIQUES ROADSHOW Online at pbs.org/antiques or by dialing toll-free 1-888-762-3749. Ticket holders are invited to bring two items for a free verbal evaluation by experts from the world’s leading auction houses—including Bonhams & Butterfields, Christie’s, Doyle New York, Freeman’s, Skinner, Sotheby’s, and Swann Galleries—and by leading independent appraisers and dealers. All ticket holders are guaranteed an appraisal.

Before hitting the road next summer, six-time Emmy Award-nominated ANTIQUES ROADSHOW began its Lucky Thirteenth broadcast season Monday, January 5 with a $1 million episode from Palm Springs, California, where experts discovered the most valuable object ever appraised on ANTIQUES ROADSHOW: a 1937 painting by noted American Abstract Expressionist artist Clyfford Still, received as a housewarming gift from friends of the artist, and conservatively estimated to be worth $500,000!
ANTIQUES ROADSHOW is watched by almost ten million viewers each week.
ANTIQUES ROADSHOW is sponsored by Liberty Mutual and Subaru. Additional funding is provided by contributions to local stations by public television viewers.
ANTIQUES ROADSHOW is produced for PBS by WGBH Boston. Executive producer is Marsha Bemko.
