Physical Education is always a part of the school day at Northside Elementary School. Students may choose any sports they would like to play in PE, but all students must play. Almost all the students like playing basketball each day, but because all of the students come in different shapes, sizes and levels of ability, sometimes some of the smaller kids get hurt or can’t play as well as other students.

Discussion questions

Have you ever been hurt playing sports on the playground?

Do you think students should only play sports during PE that have very little contact?

Could teachers help to make playground sports safer?

Should some students be allowed to sit out of games if they are smaller?

If you were in charge, what would you do?

Would you do this?
