Always be Prepared (to do the right thing)

Lindsay always took the advice of her high school tennis coach: “Always carry a spare racquet.”  In the conference championships, Lindsay is down 6-3 in an 8 game set when her opponent breaks a string on her tennis racquet and is forced to either replace her equipment in 5 minutes time or forfeit the match. As the opponent searches desperately for her coach, aware that she has no spare racquet in her bag, Lindsay stares at her own bag, knowing that she DOES have a spare racquet and that if she lends it to her opponent she will probably lose the match.

Discussion questions:

What should Lindsay do?

What are the long-term consequences of her decision?

Would it matter if it were a closer match or a higher stakes championship?

What would your coach want/encourage you to do? Your family? Teammates?

How important is winning?

What would you do?
