The Tar Heel Traveler: North Carolina Museum of Art
Thursday, April 22, at 9:30 PM
Celebrate the North Carolina Museum of Art and its new 127,000 square-foot expansion! The Museum’s grand reopening is April 24-25, but you can enjoy a special sneak preview on UNC-TV, Thursday, April 22, at 9:30 PM, when award-winning broadcast journalist Scott Mason, of WRAL TV in Raleigh, showcases the new structure and its amazing art collection on The Tar Heel Traveler.
From the Southeast’s most impressive collection of French sculptor Auguste Rodin's work and breathtaking sacred Jewish ornaments once buried and hidden from Nazis to an ancient Egyptian tomb's mysterious false door and an upside down Mona Lisa made from more than 5,000 spools of thread, you'll discover more to adore than ever before! The Tar Heel Traveler also spotlights contemporary local artists, including a Durham woman whose powerful and hopeful paintings tackle race and identity issues along with wonderful, whimsical work made from twigs and branches by a Chapel Hill man.
The Tar Heel Traveler is a production of WRAL-TV/Capital Broadcasting, taking viewers to fascinating places across the state and into the lives of memorable characters. WRAL's Tar Heel Traveler is reporter Scott Mason. Click here to visit the official website of The Tar Heel Traveler.
