Combining politics and music, Nigerian superstar Femi Kuti is taking his unique sound to the world, while carrying on a legacy began by his father, Afro-beat master Fela Kuti. In this episode, Femi shares his most recent release, this year’s The Definitive Collection, includes collaborations with Mos Def, D’Angelo, Common and Macy Gray on songs that fuse music and social activism.

REO Speedwagon, captures the band’s current lineup of Kevin Cronin (lead vocals, guitar), Bruce Hall (bass), Neal Doughty (keyboards), Dave Amato (lead guitar) and Bryan Hitt (drums) performing in front of adoring fans on their home turf in 2007. The triumphant 16-song set,recorded in awe inspiring Hi-Definition for the hit PBS concert series Soundstage, spans REO’s celebrated 35-year career – from the Number 1 charting “Keep On Loving You” and “Can't Fight This Feeling” to tracks from their most recent album release.

Then the Gourds bring their iconoclastic country/folk/Tex-Mex/Cajun rock to the stage with tunes from their latest album Heavy Ornamentals and crowd-pleasing favorites from their early years.

Bon Jovi delivers a high energy, rousing performance of their new album Lost Highway in its entirety. From a specially-built set resembling an old roadhouse, Bon Jovi presents "(You Want To) Make a Memory," "Till We Ain't Strangers Anymore," and "Lost Highway" so well, it's impossible not to get up and move.

Death Cab for Cutie has long been a critical favorite for the infectious melodies and moody lyrics. The Washington-based group performs songs from their new release, Plans, plus their breakthrough CD, Transatlanticism. My Morning Jacket has taken exotic soundscapes, guitar rock and clever lyrics and combined them for a unique sound that has won the band an ever-growing group of fans. The Kentucky band performs songs from their newest release, Z.

The relationship between Stevie Nicks and WTTW's famed "Soundstage" series is further fortified with the Fleetwood Mac front woman's first taping of her very own episode. But prior to stepping up to the solo filming plate, the laced adorned gypsy of sorts previously appeared on a full band special and served as special guest on the  Lindsey Buckingham's broadcast.

Ben Folds takes off on a solo career that builds on the success of his band's hit "Brick." Highlights include songs from his critically-acclaimed new release, Songs For Silverman. Ray LaMontagne, who Rolling Stone called “the backwoods Van Morrison,” performs songs from his haunting debut release, Trouble.
