UNC-TV invites applications for the Chief Education and Innovation Officer (CEIO) position. The CEIO builds, inspires and manages UNC-TV’s new Education Division. Leading an interdisciplinary team centered on education equity and excellence, the CEIO couples public media’s power to serve the entire continuum of life-long learning with engaging, multi-platform content for three primary purposes:
• to provide wholesome and compelling educational experiences that bridge economic and digital divides to enrich the lives of children, families, educators and communities across North Carolina;
• to develop new audience, revenue and partnership opportunities for UNC-TV; and
• to deliver tangible outcomes that bolster UNC-TV’s local and national reputation as a visionary and sustainable public media leader.
Reporting to the CEO, the CEIO partners closely with the senior leadership team to transform UNC-TV’s impact and reach by enabling the next generation of educational and digital services. They will be a thought leader who cultivates relationships for the benefit of UNC-TV and provides strategic vision and leadership to teams within the Education Division, as well as the organization as a whole. Building upon UNC-TV’s tradition of education and programming excellence, the CEIO fosters an entrepreneurial environment that promotes audience-centered thinking, experimentation, data-informed decision making and operational excellence.
Minimum requirements include a bachelor’s degree and at least ten years of experience in a senior leadership role with an in-depth understanding of technology, media production and distribution, and policy issues; or equivalent combination of training and experience. UNC-TV seeks an experienced Director of Digital Marketing to lead, inspire, and manage our newly-formed digital marketing team responsible for UNC-TV’s digital marketing portfolio including but not limited to social media, website, email, and online video as well as the data analytics needed to optimize these efforts. The director drives the strategic development and execution of marketing plans for UNC-TV Public Media North Carolina across digital channels to drive brand awareness, engage audiences, drive fundraising and contributions, and advance the organization’s mission.
Responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:
- Provide guidance and leadership to a digital marketing team to produce email, web, and social media efforts of utmost excellence and aligned with best practices
- Lead the strategy and implementation process from setting clear goals across digital platforms, managing capacity of team members, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget
- Produce dynamic content across digital platforms that connects with a diverse audience
- Drive audience and visitor growth and engagement across social, email and web properties
- Define the strategy for each channel in support of Re-Branding project slated for fall ’20
- Analyze results to inform future strategy and drive increases in channel KPIs
- Lead channel debrief meetings with Marketing and other departments to capture learnings from previous campaigns and efforts, and plan for future initiatives
- Manage digital marketing budget in collaboration with cross-departmental stakeholders
- Evaluate and provide direction for vendors, contracts, RFPs and bids
- Oversee systems and technology, and providing direction on data workflows and reporting
The Director of Digital Marketing acts as a strategic thought partner to stakeholders across the organization in the Growth/Fundraising, Content, and Technology departments to understand business objectives and execute a digital marketing strategy that meets those needs. They work in close collaboration with fellow members of the Marketing Communications team from Creative Services, Program Marketing and Events to bring strategic marketing campaigns to fruition.
UNC-TV is looking for an experienced leader with exceptional communication, presentation, and project management skills. Success in this role requires creative thinking, problem-solving, and expertise developing best-in-class, engaging and effective digital strategy.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of proven, measurable success in multiple facets of digital marketing (social media, website, email, and paid media) and extensive knowledge of current and effective digital marketing techniques and best practices. This might include, but is not limited to, deep understanding of digital content management, paid media planning across digital channels, familiarity with key analytics tools (Google Analytics/Adwords/Search Console), proficiency in relevant ad platforms (Google Ads, Facebook Ad Manager), and experience implementing strategies to increase open and click-through rates, social media engagement and web traffic all with the goal of maximizing reach and engagement.

UNC-TV, Public Media North Carolina, is seeking a dynamic and innovative Director of Integrated Fundraising to join its development organization in a mission-critical and highly visible leadership role. This Director generates the largest percentage of annual funds raised by UNC-TV. The ideal candidate for this position will bring a holistic, strategic, and visionary approach to using analytics, data, operational excellence, and technology to drive the organization’s fundraising efforts. The Director should be passionate about using data to drive critical fundraising decisions and devise solutions to unstructured business problems. They will be excited about identifying ways to not only participate in but also capitalize on opportunities arising from the network’s ongoing rebranding initiatives. This highly visible player-coach should enjoy collaborating with colleagues, motivating and developing a high potential team, and serving as a trusted, creative, and proactive advisor to the Chief Growth Officer.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of eight to ten years of proven, measurable success in multiple facets of direct response (digital, on-air and/or mail) fundraising and donor acquisition, and an advanced knowledge of current and effective direct response marketing techniques and best practices. This role represents an opportunity to blend technical analysis with business intuition in a fun and creative environment.
