UNC-TV Public Media North Carolina seeks an inventive broadcast, internet and mobile media professional to deliver engaging content that educates, informs, entertains and inspires.
The Chief Content Officer (CCO) will deliver content that diverse North Carolinians embrace, and position UNC-TV as a leader in innovative programming for 21st century audiences.
Reporting to Chief Executive Officer, the new CCO will be an integral part of the senior management team. The UNC-TV CCO position is responsible for growing and developing UNC-TV’s content in a way that provides continuity with past programming, advances its educational and public service mission and meets the evolving needs of North Carolina’s diverse audiences. The CCO is tasked with delivering engaging content and leading-edge distribution strategies that attract new audiences to broadcast, web and mobile platforms. The person in the role oversees a budget of approximately $12 million and more than 50 permanent, temporary and contract employees statewide.
UNC-TV is actively seeking qualified candidates for a Social Media Manager in the Marketing Communications division. This manager is vital leader on the Digital Marketing team, supervising one permanent position, and is responsible for UNC-TV’s social media strategy with the goal of building and sustaining an engaged audience and member base across social media platforms. This highly collaborative role will work with content, creative services, marketing, and development teams to create and maintain an editorial and promotions calendar. This role will develop and implement social media campaigns to increase and build brand awareness and loyalty, increase donations to UNC-TV, drive audience engagement, and strengthen multi-platform viewership of UNC-TV programming. This position is responsible for measuring and analyzing social media performance, making strategic decisions for campaign growth, and providing staff training and guidance on social media best practices. The Social Media Manager will provide leadership and direction for all social media platforms and efforts utilizing audience analytics and research to ensure effective engagement and marketing strategies are utilized in a comprehensive manner. He or she should demonstrate a strong command of social media management experience developing and executing social media marketing strategy, preferably at a marketing/creative agency, or within the entertainment industry.
Minimum requirements include a bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment, or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
UNC-TV, Public Media North Carolina, invites applications for a Website Manager who is responsible for managing UNC-TV’s website platform including the development and execution of web strategy designed to communicate the brand, promote shows and other station priorities and engage audiences through relevant and targeted messaging while driving fundraising revenue for the organization. The Website Manager will lead the production, maintenance and reporting for UNC-TV’s web presence including, but not limited to, unctv.org and microsites, content curation and editing and site optimization.
As the principal overseer of the UNC-TV web presence, this role leads the development of design layout and/or build of all web pages, content development across sites, ongoing maintenance and optimization, troubleshooting website errors, and analyzing site performance to identify underperforming web pages and content and making recommendations for improvement. The Website Manager will be the liaison with internal and external stakeholders responsible for reviewing and prioritizing requests for digital media creation including new webpage development and managing display ads across the platform. This requires strong project management and communications skills in order to manage and execute the web and digital presence of their content and priorities.
This role works cross-functionally across the organization to understand business requirements and translate them into solutions to meet those needs. In an effort to stay up- to-date with functionality and capabilities of web platforms, this role will also act as the liaison with PBS digital team, CMS vendor, LearningMedia and other products to continually optimize the UNC-TV website. This role will report to the director of digital marketing along with email marketing and social media on a new team in the Marketing Communications division at UNC-TV.
Minimum requirements include a bachelor’s degree and at least two years of relevant experience; or a Master’s degree with at least one year of relevant experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
